Candidates must write essays about:

4. My Military Club Experience - military YOYs only

The essays will be judged for content, clarity and overall quality.

Interview

Candidates have a 15-minute interview with a panel of judges. Judges will ask each candidate the same questions, but follow-up questions may vary depending on each candidate’s responses.

Public
Speaking

Candidates deliver a speech based on the content of their essays. Speeches may be 3 minutes or less. Candidates are prohibited from using any notes, electronic devices, props or costumes at the state, regional and national levels. Candidates will be judged on speech content, delivery, stage presence and poise.

Quality

Judges assess applications and supplemental materials including the cover letter, resume and  two letters of recommendation for clarity, professionalism, completion of each section and quality of supplemental materials.  The letters of recommendation are from a Club staff member and from a community member.
